Barnard Castle sits along the River Tees where County Durham meets North Yorkshire, positioned on the main A67 route through Teesdale. Most visitors arrive from the A1(M) via Scotch Corner and the A66, whilst the A688 connects the town to Bishop Auckland and Darlington. The town serves as a gateway to the Yorkshire Dales with approximately 25 public fast chargers available. The 12th-century castle ruins perch dramatically above the Tees, giving the town both its name and most recognisable feature.
