Bailieborough

Bailieborough sits about 100 kilometres northwest of Dublin in County Cavan's lakeland country, a handy market town surrounded by small lakes and farmland. The quickest route from Dublin takes the M3 to Navan, then N3 to Virginia and R178 west into town. From Belfast, it's A1 south to Dundalk, then N2 through Carrickmacross and Kingscourt. The town has around 10 fast charging stations for electric vehicles, making it a practical stop for longer journeys. What sets Bailieborough apart is its unusual triangular main street where three roads meet at sharp angles, a quirky bit of 17th-century plantation planning that gives the place its distinctive character.
