Aughrim (Galway)

Aughrim is a handy stop along the N6 between Galway city and Dublin, about 25 minutes east of Galway via the M6. The village sits at a useful junction where the R446 heads north to Athenry, making it a natural break for cross-country travelers or those exploring eastern Galway. You'll find around 10 fast charging stations for electric cars, which is grand for longer journeys. The big draw here is the Interpretive Centre, which tells the story of the 1691 Battle of Aughrim fought on the boggy fields nearby, the decisive clash that ended the Williamite War.
