Athleague sits handily on the N63 between Galway and Longford, making it a grand spot for crossing the western midlands. You're about 45 kilometres from Galway city and just 15 from Roscommon town, with the N6 motorway 20 kilometres south if you're coming up from Dublin or Cork via Ballinasloe. The River Suck meanders through typical Roscommon farmland nearby. There's decent EV charging about the place for electric cars. The real draw is Coyne's pub, which has been pulling pints since 1895 and still has its original Victorian fittings behind the old wooden bar.
