Archer is a small Florida town 20 miles southwest of Gainesville, accessible via State Road 24 which connects directly to I-75. The area features rolling pine forests and cattle country typical of north-central Florida. Most visitors use it as a gateway to nearby Paynes Prairie Preserve or Goethe State Forest. The town's claim to fame is a giant concrete dinosaur that's been watching over the community since the 1960s.
