Annan sits near the Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway, eight miles west of Gretna on the A75. The town serves as a useful stop on the main route between central Scotland and the Stranraer ferries, with good rail connections and about 16 fast charging points for electric vehicles. The 12th-century castle motte still rises prominently above the town centre.
