Amador City is one of California's tiniest incorporated cities, with just 174 residents spread across four blocks along Highway 49 in the Sierra foothills. Located about an hour from Sacramento via Highway 16 and 49, this Gold Rush relic sits between Jackson and Sutter Creek on the scenic Mother Lode route. The entire downtown fits along Highway 49's main corridor, and despite its size, the city maintains its own post office.
