Alvord is a small Texas town about 60 miles northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth, reached via US-380 west through Denton, then north on FM-51. The rolling Cross Timbers prairie here features scattered oak groves and grassland typical of north-central Texas. Local routes connect through FM-51 to nearby Chico and Bridgeport, while longer trips use I-35W through Denton or Decatur. The town's centerpiece is a restored 1908 brick bank building that now serves as a historical museum.
