Aldgate marks the historic eastern boundary of the City of London, where medieval gates once controlled access to the capital. The A1211 and A10 Bishopsgate provide the main driving routes, whilst the A1202 Commercial Street connects through Spitalfields. The area sits within London's congestion charge zone, with over 11,600 EV charging points across the capital. The original Aldgate Pump still stands at Leadenhall Street, marking the traditional divide between the City and East End.
